4) The Destruction of the Mind

Once the Shadow Self and the Ego have been transformed the Spiritual Aspirant can begin to work on the destruction of the mind.

The higher mind is the source of guidance and intuition, however the lower mind is logical in essence. When the Destruction of the Mind comes about the Disciple often loses their lower mental facilities for some time, and they cannot perform even the most rudimentary of tasks.
Avatar Meher Baba has through His universal work has already destroyed the collective mind of humanity through his ‘manonash’ work. Needless to say the ‘mind’ of humanity in the world, society and other bodies has been greatly weakened, and consequently the heart is beginning to rule once more.

You cannot proceed through the Mental Planes with the lower mind in operation. It is necessary at this point to begin the process of the transformation of the mind. This process is very similar to the Destruction of the Ego as it takes place over a series of ‘trials’. The process of passing from the lower Mental Body to the higher Mental Body begins with the loss of any spiritual knowledge that the Aspirant acquired on the path upwards. This mental understanding creates a field of Mental Glamour in itself which binds the Aspirant to the mental body. It is at this point you begin the process of ‘losing’ your knowledge.

Really the higher mind is the lower mind plugged into Source and your guidance. Through these trials the mental self dissolves leaving an essence, or shell behind. This mental self is the seed created by the Oversoul when it creates a Soul Aspect that spirals down through creation.

As you pass from the lower mind upwards, you begin the process of destruction in earnest. In this way anything that the lower mind is attached to has to go!

In this way the Aspirant must rid themselves of thoughtforms and accumulated knowledge. When the Higher Mind comes into play then the personality can be switched off and the Higher Self can manifest itself more fully.

There are those who get stuck in this phase of transformation, and who become ‘spiritually vacant’!
The goal of this process is to leave the Spiritual Aspirant nicely placed within the heart centre. From here they can begin the process of normalising, and becoming human as well as Divine.
